The Turtle Creek Watershed Project is a EPA 319 funded project. This project was born out of the North Dakota Department of Health study that found excessive pollution in the creek.
What We Offer |
We will pay 60% of costs for a wide variety of practices that help improve water quality. Practices like cover crops, filter strips, and riparian buffer establishment are eligible for funding right away. A lot of the livestock practices may be funded if they are part of an overall management plan. This plan isn’t always extensive or overwhelming, and in many cases most or all of a qualifying management plan is already in place.

What To Expect |
The success of our project will be determined by water quality sampling results on Turtle Creek in the coming years. The more immediate the impact of your practice on Turtle Creek water quality, the more likely that your project will be funded and the quicker we can get a green light to go ahead. Because the funding for our project is sourced through the ND Department of Health, they have final say as to whether your project gets cost share assistance. In many cases they will be thrilled to grant you funding. In other cases we may have to do some negotiating on your behalf. If we can’t help you right away, we’ll still keep you in mind. Circumstances may change or we may be able to find a different funding source to help you out.
